ch.271 ice cream bak bak - wong bak

after the fun hot pot with the old cakes, i walked home. On my way back, i saw the familiar back of the old man, pushing his ice cream carts along boundary street. I have had an urge to help him before and tonight i finally took the courage and asked if he needed any help. He did. So i pushed his carts with him all the way to nathan road, then to the bridge on prince edward road. During our journey, we talked. Bascially, it was him telling him his stories. While helping him push his carts, lots of people looked at us. There was 1 lady even offered to help, which was very nice of her. I think there are still people who are willing to lead out a hand in hk. I m glad i took the courage to help mr. wong. At the end, he offered some drinks for me to take home. it was sweet and of coz i said no need.

I am glad i had the courage to hel him tonight. I felt very good afterwards. I wish to use what i have to help people in God's glory.

Lord, i need your guidiance and I thank you for tonight's experience.

ch.270 home cooking

invited my lovely J's fr home cooking dinner last night. What i served was hmm... turned out to be ok. :)

My dishes:
1. Guacamole with fresh celery and carrt sticks.. supposed to be lovely smoothie texture type of dip but since i have no idea how to pick avacodo, one of the 2 that i bought was still too young --> hard to eat/ mix as smoothie.. very.. crunchy. haha.
Thinking to cook them n see if i could mix it with something to eat with rice? haha. geezz... sounds quite .. hm...

2. Pumpkin soup. ok, this one was awesome! love it. the gals love it too. hehe. but i never expect cutting the pumpkin into pieces require so much power! for just 1/2 of the little pumpkin (japan pumpkim bought at sogo, btw), used up so much strength.. but the result was good.. the soup got texture and tasted very well.

3. tomato sauce with sphetti. Asked my brother how to make the sauce. So i used fresh tomatoes, tomato paste, ice sugar, onino n chicken broth. I unskinned the tomatoes by cutting the skin at the bottom part and drwoned it into a pot of hot water n the skin will rise it by itself after a few minutes.. soo amazing. I can have the tomato skin all peeled but still hv the string at the top.. so pretty. Anyway, the sauce tasted well and i m very proud of myself.

4. Lime chaffon cream pie from Janice. That was great. very very light and lovely crust. With the lemongrass drink after.. they were perfect match with each other.. super touching after hving these 2 lovely pieces.

It was great hving frds at my home and enjoying laughters and food. My tiny cozy space is perfect for frds to enjoy chitchat coz they got nowhere else to go but staying at where they r. :P

lovely wknd.
will cook more.

o, n the pasta with the tomata sauce, it was pefect.. al dente~ hehe..

ch.269 Cooking for 1

The carrot and the cucumber i bought last wknd is getting soft...
i m always thinking about what to cook on the bus ride during my way back home. What's inside the fridge? what I hv left.. like i had 1 onion and 1 sweet potato left.. how should i cook them...

so today, i wanted to cook rice and japanese curry so that i can bring lunch tmmr. Used the old cucumber and the omg-super-soft-duno-if-it's-still-eatable carrot. O, before, i went to park n shop to buy the curry sauce. Wanted to get those japanese cube curry but there's none at wellcome and so after introduced by the wellcome guy, i bought AMOY jpanese curry sauce. Checked the direction and look quite easy to so. OOO, before this, just wanted to add i actually bought 3 zuccini and 2 cucumber after work today for only $6!!! omg!!
anyway, so i started to chop things into pieces. Everything looked right. Then i started to boil water and mix the curry sauce in the bowl. After a few minutes.. didnt look right.. so "hey".. n so i added the chopped pieces of vege.. n still not right.. so i thought, hey i can use the sweet potato to make the 'gravy' kinda texture.. still not right.. n then i suddenly thought of corn starch! n so i immediately turned everything off and ran down to wellcome to get corn starch. Actully, i thought of "san fan" first.. but there's no 'san fan' at wellcome! so i called up my bro and asked if corn starch is similar to san fan.. i m glad my bro is such a good cook n he just solved my problem... n so, i got the corn starch home and mixed it with water n poured it into the watery curry sauce. Magic happened. Everything turned out to be quite nice afterwards, the taste, the texture and ya, the taste.. phewww... Then i poured the tastey sauce into my big bowl of rice and let them cool> JUST put them inside the fridge, as i totally forgot that i still hv them in the kitchen, good that i decided to blog. haha>> SO, there i hv my lovely lunch for tmmr.

lesson learnt, MUST hv corn starch at home.

O, i finally bought a bottle of soy sauce tonight.. N a bottle of X.O sauce.. just incase i dun wanna boil vege anymore but mixed them with this sauce instead..

Finished zipping my hot lemongrass drink... felt so good.

cooking is actully not hard.. just hv to keep practicing as there r so many things u can expect.........
